Spring in our greennouse
Having a greenhouse and cultivating plants in a Montessori school for adolescents aged 12-15 is crucial for their holistic development. First and foremost, contact with nature promotes the well-being and mental health of students, which is particularly important during adolescence, a time when young people face various emotional challenges.
The greenhouse becomes a space for learning responsibility, patience, and teamwork, as students have the opportunity to plan, plant, and care for plants together. Working in the greenhouse also teaches practical skills, such as understanding the life cycle of plants, ecology, and sustainability.
Additionally, activities related to plant cultivation can serve as an excellent introduction to the natural sciences, as well as foster creativity and interest in the arts, for example, through designing green spaces or creating decorations.
In this way, the greenhouse becomes not only a place of learning but also a space where young people can develop their passions and skills, while simultaneously building strong relationships with their peers and nature.
