The 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence
Today’s day at our school was special. Together, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence. The anniversary falls on Sunday, November 11th. During the morning Community Meeting, Ms. Agnieszka (history teacher) reminded everyone of the events from 100 years ago as well as from the 18th and 19th centuries – she explained why we are celebrating the independence on November 11th. As part of “sharing” we created a circle, holding hands – at that time everyone could share the reflection “for what they like about Poland”.
The second part of our celebration began exactly at 11:11, when together we sang the Polish National Anthem “Mazurek Dąbrowskiego”.
Class 5 students together with Ms. Agata, Agnieszka and Marta prepared a short presentation consisting of patriotic poems and songs. The leading theme of today’s celebration was patriotism understood as respect for the freedom and independence of every nation.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of independence, we encourage you to celebrate in the spirit of freedom and tolerance.
